We now begin the run up to Rendezbrew. It is going to be very busy the next 3 months. A lot of hard work is going to be required by a lot of people to pull Lunar Rendezbrew 16 off. I know that we are the folks to do it. But organization, timing and follow-through will be absolutely required for us to make it work for another year.
To all the people working as Chairpersons for all the committee and for those helping back-up the Chairs, every single job is important to the success of this endeavor. Entry handling, Judging, Stewarding, Set-up, Take-down, the Kitchen staff, Food Prep, Entertainment, Games Players, Alternative Beverage judging, Soda Contest, Ticket Takers, Door Greeters, along with everybody doing their best to find Sponsors and Ticket buyers are ALL very critical to our success. I want all of you in the club to recognize that it does take all of us pulling together to make the best Homebrew Party in Texas a real event and a real success. Committees are already coming together and plans are already afoot for most of what needs to be done. That is one of the advantages of having so many good folks who have worked this show in the past. Now it is up to the newer members to begin stepping up and filling the spots to do the hard work that makes us successful so they can learn how the jobs get done so they can take over in a few years time!
I trust you all to be doing your very best. I know you will.
While all this hard work is going on I want all of us to remember that the next competition in the Lone Star Circuit after the Celtic Brew-off at the beginning of June is LUNAR RENDEZBREW! We need to be brewing our competition beers for LR 16 NOW.
To all of our experienced competition brewers, I know I am preaching to the choir about brewing but it must be said. Your expertise is an invaluable resource for our club! Your strengths lie in both the quality and quantity of beers you brew to enter in Rendezbrew. Our club will need every quality beer you can brew to help us withstand the assault that is sure to be coming from North Texas, our colleagues the Foam Rangers and do not underestimate the Austin Zealots. There are several clubs in this state that want to take us down for our hard work last year and are counting on us being less than willing to do the hard brewing work to show it was not a fluke event. This is where every brew you make is important at a competitive level. This is where all of you step up and show the depth of skill BAM has in its brewers.
As for our newer members, this is a FANTASTIC time for you to become part of the long history of many BAM homebrewers brewing winning competitive beers from the start of their brewing careers! If you are just getting started, please watch the Forums and the Calendar as there will be several brew-ins held by members of the club to encourage folks to brew for Rendezbrew as well as to just enjoy a Saturday of brewing! Participating at any level in a BAM brew-in is a great learning opportunity for a beginning homebrewer. Furthermore, you enthusiasm allows you to experiment and brew beers that are completely new to you. But it gives you the chance to make many new beers. This breadth of brewing is very important to you as a brewer and as a competitor. Make them. Those can be great entries to Rendezbrew! I assure you, competition is flat out FUN. In any case, as a new brewer, brewing on your own, with a friend or at a brew-in, never hesitate to ask a question if you need some information. Our brewers are some of the most knowledgeable and helpful experts in homebrewing you could find anywhere. Believe me, we have enough major award winning brewers just standing about brewing beer for fun at any event, or reading the Forums, that we can get most any question answered in no time.
Now, let’s get brewing!! Full speed ahead to win Lunar Rendezbrew 16!!
Hughbrew, MC.
