Food

What goes better with fresh cold beer?  Why of course it's Pizza and Pasta!  This year our food is being catered by Pomodor's Pasta and Pizzeria,  1303 NASA Pkwy!  Their deliscious pizzas and pasta (with a choice of sauces) will be served with a selection of tossed green salads, dressings and garlic bread.  For dessert, fresh baked cookies; a Rendezbrew favorite tradition.

Entertainment:

The muscial entertainment this year is the Dirt Road Band.  They will provide popular music throughout the evening starting at 4:30 PM.

Lunar Rendezbrew Homebrew Competition:

This is what it is all about.  The Lunar Rendezbrew is an AHA approved homebrew competition and a member of the Lonestar Circuit.  Brewers enter beers of a variety of styles.  Nearly all beers are judged prior to the competition (with the exception of "Best of Show") so that we can get to the important business of partying at the Lunar Rendezbrew!  For information about entry dates and rules please refer to the Submit Entry  page.

Lunar Challenge:

This popular homebrew contest is open to all the homebrewing clubs in the Houston Area! The Rules of the Lunar Challenge are simple, here they are:

1. An entry to the Lunar Challenge is based on a designated keg of beer donated to the Lunar Rendezbrew by a homebrew club of the Houston Area.
2. Entry is completely voluntary.
3. The donated beer is for the consumption of those attending Lunar Rendezbrew.
4. Each club can donate as much beer as they like. They can have only one Lunar Challenge entry.
5. The entry can be any style of beer as defined by the BJCP.
6. The entry must be at least 5 gallons of beer in a Corny keg.
7. The winning homebrew club will be determined by a subjective standard determined by BAM.
8. The winning homebrew club, however decided, will be awarded the Lunar Challenge Shuttle-ing Trophy. This lovely trophy will be theirs to proudly display for the next year. Then it must be returned for the next Lunar Challenge!

Battle Brew Galactica:

The Battle Brew Galactica is an opportunity for our community's professionals; our local homebrew shop owners, brewers at brewpubs, at micro and macro breweries and such as those, to participate in a one-on-one popular vote as to who makes the best homebrew amongst the brewing professionals in the Houston Area!   Strictly for bragging rights and a really neat trophy.

1. Battlebrew Galactica is open to any brewing professional or professional whose business supports homebrewing in the Houston Area.
2. The entry can be any style of beer as defined by the BJCP.
3. The entry must be at least 5 gallons in a Corny keg.
4. The entry MUST be homebrewed. The beer cannot be produced using the equipment of any commercial brewery.
5. Each entry will be presented to the attendees of Lunar Rendezbrew for their consideration and consumption.
6. The winner will be determined by the popularity of their beer with the audience at Lunar Rendezbrew.  That means a popular vote by the people drinking the beer!
7. The winner will be awarded the new Battle Brew Galactica Beer Enterprise Traveling Trophy for their efforts. The trophy is theirs to display for the following year. It must then be returned for next year's Battlebrew Galactica.

Other Activities:

Home Made Soda Contest:

Bring a keg or 2 liter bottle of your best home made soda for our home made soda competition. All of the kids will be given a ticket to place in the jar for the soda they like the best. 

• Bring a keg or 2 liter bottle of your best home made soda to the Soda Contest Table
• The soda will be chilled and available for the kids to drink.
• Sodas must be carbonated and (obviously) non-alcoholic
• All of the kids will be given a ticket to place in the jar for the soda they like the best
• The winner is determined by the kids

Homebrew Competition:

Come Join the Bay Area Mashtronauts and other Houston area homebrew clubs for the 16th annual Lunar Rendezbrew Homebrew Competition. This year's competition includes beer, meads, ciders, wine, and liqueurs. Awards are awarded, claps and hugs are given... Bragging rights accepted! Slap-downs accepted...

The World Famous Lunar Renezbrew Paper Airplane Competition:

Give a bunch of engineers enough beer and some huge sheets of paper and a paper airplane competition is bound to ensue.  The rules are simple - 4 ft piece of butcher paper and fifteen minutes.  Do you have what it takes?

Bubba Beer:

So you think you know your beers.  Well how well do you know your water?  In Bubba Beer contestants try to match the taste of various American "Light" beers with its proper identity.  Easier said than done!  There are more of them than you think.  Do they all taste alike?

Washer Toss:

What would a party in Texas be without a rousing game of washers.  Some toss with a backspin.  Some try to slide them in.  And some just aim for the hole.  But everyone has fun!

Carnival Games:

Just when you thought a homebrew party was only for grown ups... Carnival Games!! 

If you have not been to a Lunar Rendezbrew Party yet, you have missed the biggest intergalactic homebrew party of all time! This is not your typical Homebrew Competition; this is a homebrew event!  And indeed, an event to be remembered!

All entries will be judged before the Party. So like any other Homebrew event, there will be plenty of beer talk. The event is really more about having fun and enjoying good beer, good food, good music, GREAT company, and more good beer.

Accomodations:

This can be a long evening.  That can be especially true for some of our guests coming from out of town or from the far other side of Houston.  We do not want ANYONE to try to drive home late at night tired from a long evening enjoying themselves.  Here are some nearby hotels for anyone driving from out of town or from across town and not wanting to drive home.
